Grasshopper Silk Studio was established in 2005 by Sandy, who started working with dyes on silk in 2001. In 2006, she was invited to add her studio to the New Mexico Fiber Arts Trail. Evolving from simply dyes on silk, her techniques now include Nuno Felting. Her hand-painted silks are gently combined with wool roving to create thoughtfully crafted one-of-a-kind fiber art. She instructs fiber workshops and gives private lessons. In 2019, during a remodel, Sandy and David explored the possibilities of epoxy resin and have been busy creating unique epoxy/resin art. Passionate about the journey of creating art, they look forward to sharing with you during this year’s studio tour.
