Damion Rembert
Daymeon’s art reflects his, and others’, observed journeys through life with attention to cultural awareness, links between cultures, spirituality, fantasy, reality, nature, symbolism, world conditions, joy, pain, revolution and much more. These are immediate aspects that one feels most when seeing his work.
Daymeon officially began drawing and painting at 10 years old while living with his mother in his native Arizona. Without formal training during his early years, he learned to cut, copy, paste, and format work as an artist on the yearbook staff at Butler High School in Augusta, Georgia, where he lived as a teenager after his mother’s passing. His skills developed into his unique style as he practiced graffiti art in the 90s. He attended the Art Center of Tucson for graphic art, design, and production from 1992 to 95.
Rembert now works as a fine artist combining various mediums to illustrate, paint, and create murals. He imaginatively combines mediums such as ink, acrylic, gouache, marker, and watercolors, disrupting boundaries of traditional mediums to express his unique visions.
Born in Arizona, Daymeon has called many places home including Douglas, Tucson, and Bisbee, Arizona. He lived in Denver and Boulder, Colorado where in addition to his artwork, he created music as a Hip Hop artist, expanded his dance repertoire, and continued his acting career. Daymeon currently lives in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico where he shares a functioning studio with his partner, Rhonda Dass, showing art, acting, and teaching dance. He is an active member of the Juneteenth Council for the city of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and is affiliated with the Branigan Cultural Center of Las Cruces.
“A Show of Hands” is a series he’s worked on for about 3 years now, illustrating and painting hands for statements or imaginative forms. Previous series include: Tree forms, landscapes combined with other aspects, human forms, animal aspects, fantasy, plants, and animation.
