I have been painting and creating since a young girl. I studied art at the University of New Mexico and received my BFA from there in 1977. I have traveled extensively in the US, Europe and Mexico. My travels have greatly influenced my work. I have always loved color and the effect it can have on our emotions, our moods. I cannot imagine a world without color. I remember seeing “Starry Night” by Vincent Van Gogh in a book when I was young and being fascinated by the colors and the sense of movement and happiness I felt when looking at it. I often hear from people when looking at my work that it reminds them of Van Gogh and I have come to realize that he has definitely been an influence on my work. I have lived a good portion of my life in the Southwest and also several years in Mexico which has greatly influenced my use of vibrant colors.
