Nolan Winkler began her painting career in the 1960s in southern CA and she continues her painting today in her studio in Hillsboro, New Mexico.
In between those times, she has won numerous artist in resident fellowships across the country. Some have been: Dorland Mt. Art Colony, Temecula, CA; Virginia Center for the Arts in Sweet Briar, VA; Montalvo Center for the Arts in Saratoga, CA; and one in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, MX.
Nolan has also been schooled in art at UCLA, El Camino College, La Corte della Minera in Italy, the Santa Fe Institute for Fine Arts where she won a scholarship (via Wayne Thiebauld) to work under master printmaker, Garner Tullis and another with master painter, Nathan Oliveira.
She has won a CA Arts Grant and has given talks and slide shows at the Univ. of the Pacific; the Preston Center for Contemporary Arts; New Mexico Southern University; the Las Cruces Museum of Fine Arts, NM Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum and continues to exhibit in numerous shows around the country.
Her paintings, drawings and monotypes are in collections of Lt. Gov. Diane Denish; artist, Sol LeWitt; Sen. P. Johnston, CA, Orsatti Productions.
