The universal experience that all people have is the physiological methods with which we perceive the world. Regarding vision, humans are trichromates. Our eyes can perceive only red, green and blue wavelengths of light. Everything else is interpreted by our brains. This is influenced by our cultures, languages, religions and histories which are individual experiences and often serve to divide us. We can not be sure that the world we see is shared with anyone else.
In order to emphasize the physiological means which which we perceive our surroundings, I have developed the process that I have coined "Trichromographs" which employs photographing with an additive lighting process of pure red, green and blue lights. When remixed together, these wavelengths normally will recombine into full spectrum of white light. By projecting these colors individually and varying their movement on a landscape, we observe how they separate into unexpected color displays.
In this work, I have applied this process to photographing the landscapes here in Sierra county near where we live.
