Priscilla Spitler

Priscilla Spitler has been passionate about making artful books since her first bookbinding lesson in Santa Fe in 1977. Originally a printmaker (BFA 1975) California College of Arts & Crafts, Oakland (BFA 1975), she studied bookbinding at the London College of Printing in 1980-81 and design binding at the University of Texas at Austin in 1987. Priscilla specialized in edition binding at the Palace Press, Museum of New Mexico, Santa Fe (1982-1986) and at BookLab, Inc., in Austin, Texas, from 1987 to 1995. She established her own Hands On Bookbinding studio in Texas in 1995, which moved to Truth or Consequences in 2007. In 2024 Priscilla retired from production work, but continues to create artist books and teach periodic classes.
